Weird slow down in games & VLC
I've just got my hand on a spanking new system. Here are the specs, then i'll go into my couple of issues...
memory - TWIN 2X4096-6400C4DHX DDR2 4GB (Corsair) chip - Intel E8400 Core2Duo 3.0 GHz PSU - 700W FSP PSU FSP700-80GLN PSU mobo - GByte GAX48-DQ6 s775 X48 MoBo gfx - 512M SAPP HD3870 PCI-E GDDR4 (Radeon) HDD - 500Gb HGST SATA2 0A33437 HDD cooling - ZALMAN CNPS9700-LED COOLER So, I install Vista, all is looking fine until i try to 'multitask' as such. being a gamer, I tend to have WoW (World of Warcraft) running on 1 monitor, and VLC on the other monitor playing a tv show or DVD etc. Except, when both are running, I get slightly choppy sound from VLC which is quite annoying. After playing with as much sound stuff as i could find, I revert back to XP Pro 32. Still does the same. I did notice that in the BIOS, the chip was running at x8/2.66, so I have upped this to x9/3.0Ghz, but it has made no difference. I'm thinking it's to do with either mobo voltages or timing speeds, but that is a littel beyond my knowledge to be honest. DXdiag comes back with no problems found (if a log is asked for, i can produce one later tonight, once i'm home), all drivers are updated. The other issue is withing the game itself, and it's running a very low frame rate compared to other machines of worse spec, but I'm guessing that should be enquired upon via Blizzard's site... Any ideas on what the timing speeds and voltages 'should' be, so I can compare to what the BIOS believes it is...?? |

Re: Weird slow down in games & VLC
Off hand, no idea, once i'm home from work, I'll take a look. I do remember seeing the CPU temp at 29C, but that was a few days ago.
I'll get more info for you once work is over and done with!! Thanks! |
