Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
This is what your board supports.
CPU - Socket 939 for AMD Athlon™ 64FX / 64X2 / 64 processors - FSB 1000 MHz (2.0GT/s) - Supports HyperTransport Technology - Supports AMD Cool'n'Quiet Technology Also here is the asrock link for your motherboard. http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...al-SATA2&s=939 I too have an asrock board , and I really like how easy there website is.

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
It's a socket 939 board, so the Athlon X2 6000+ is out of the question. The best you can use would be an E6 stepping X2 4800+ with a Toledo core running at 2.4GHz, which is very rare and expensive. Used X2 3800+ and 4200+ chips can be had for around $70 on eBay, running at 2 and 2.2GHz respectively.

What ever happened with the AM2 upgrade card for that board, I heard a lot about it and now nothing so I assume it didn't work out?

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
I used to have the Athlon 64 3700+ and just got the Athlon 64 x2 4200+ and now my FPS has gone to nothing. CPU tests say everything is working as it should though. I found out i get the same problem if i overclock the 3700+ past about 10%. Any ideas?

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
One of the games is Team Fortress 2 which does have a multi core graphics option. However, the problem still happens when i over clock the single core past a certain point. This is what leads me to believe it is a bus problem with too much information.

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
Well the 4200+ seems to run hot and according to PCWiz it has a core 1 of up to 75 and core 2 up to 60 so that is enough to concern me. However, the 3700+ is only seeing about 49 all the way to about 2.8 GHz so i don't think temp would be an issue on that one.

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
I do not want to buy a new CPU cooler untill i have the problem solved though. Unfortunetly I can't use the 4200+ untill i solve the problem. That is why i am trying to solve it using the OC 3700+ cause temp shouldn't be a factor.

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
I had the 4200+ set to 1.4 max and PC Wizard said it was at about 1.35 so i think it was in spec. When the 3700+ is overclocked i am not sure what voltage to put it at but PCWiz says 1.35 for this one as well. I would think a voltage problem would also show up in basic CPU tests right?

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
Too much would raise temps.
Is the board set back to stock clocks and voltages(Ram and CPU) now and it's still running hot? |

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
Well i now have the 3700+ in the board because i can reproduce the problem by overclocking. However, everything was set to stock when i had the 4200+ in there with the stock cooler.

Re: Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 What processor will this mobo support
Just another symptom, i tried to find out at what frequency the 3700+ needed to be to get the problem. What i found was that it could be overclocked to 2.81 GHz for a while with no problem. Then after letting the computer run for a while and letting everything warm up, the problem returned and now i have to put it at 2.59 GHz. Is it possible that the 7800 GS graphics card has a fail safe mode that would reduce its performance to a crawl? I am only thinking of the time i had a HD connected to the same power cord and it said due to power requirements it was reduced. i understand this is vague but i am trying to give all the things i find just in case they matter. Thanks for all the feedback so far though, i really appreciate it!!
