New WD SATA HDD not detected in BIOS

I recently bought a Western Digital 500Gb Hard Drive because I was running out of space on my boot drive and needed some place to store all my music and movies. The new hard drive is a SATA drive (WD5000AAKS) and my motherboard is an Intel Desktop Board D945GNT. I installed the drive and partitioned it in Disk Management and it worked fine, I copied my media folder over from my boot drive to the new one and I could access all the files just fine. I used it with no problems for a few days then one day (my birthday) I woke up and turned on my computer and the drive wasnt in My Computer anymore, I went into BIOS and it wasn't showing up in BIOS either, all my SATA ports said "not installed" beside them. I updated my BIOS to the latest version and bought a new SATA data cable and the new hard drive still isn't showing up in BIOS or disk management. Windows hangs at startup now and I have a bad feeling that the drive failed although it still sounds like its spinning up and its warm to the touch. Any ideas?

Re: New WD SATA HDD not detected in BIOS

How do I set it to be seen as IDE in the BIOS? I've been through BIOS and I can't find the option for it.

Re: New WD SATA HDD not detected in BIOS

Yup. Try to slave it on another computer with SATA as primary master.

And for your lost data, use GetDataBack.
