HP 310n Motherboard fried i think... Options?
Hello folks,
Any help is appreciated... Is there a cheap replacement motherboard for a HP 310n? I no longer have the original startup cd, thinking this could be a problem too.... Here's what happened... I bought a 256mb PC133 chip for my computer. The one installed was a 256mb PC100. Tried them both, wouldn't boot. Tried just the new one, booted fine. So tried installing both again, in different slots. Fired it up... heard a faint <pop!>, and smelt something burning... Basically, it tries to start, cd green light goes on, power button lights for a second, but the fan doesn't start, and nothing happens. I've tried the ram, cpu, and power supply in another computer, all work fine. So, the only thing left i can think of is the motherboard. Been looking for a cheap replacement... but very confused. Any suggestions? I never heard of mismatched memory frying a motherboard.. is that possible? Or a horrible coincidence? Again, any help appreciated. Cheers! Dan ![]() |
