Man- having problems. On Asus downloads, the k8n-dl is not listed until you search for it. then once found the latest bios is not there, version 1011. Once found, i cannot get it to install using alt-f2 and award flash. states wrong bios. have researched this quite a bit. am not new to this. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. reason to update is my opteron 2.6 gig cpus are listed as unknown. guess just being a perfectionist. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I have ever posted a question on any forum. Usually full of answers. Maybe missing somthing easy...

Re: k8n-dl:can't update bios to most current
Have you tried saving the zipped bios update to a file...unzipping it ...loading on to a floppy and running the flash manually in dos?
I am afraid I had problems using AFUDOS and the bios flash utility also ...I had to do it manually. |

Re: k8n-dl:can't update bios to most current
Hey,
I have been running the same kind of system for 3 years. When I built my system I built an identical one for my friend. Last week he bought new 275's to run in his computer. We needed to upgrade his bios to 1010 (at least 1007) since he was still running 1004. When updating bios I always use a DOS boot disk and then run awdflash.exe from another disk, which also contained the new bios. When we tried to do this, we could not get the new bios to load and we then could not get the computer to reformat due to unknown problems. I went home to check to see if I could flash my bios with 1010 and had no problems what-so-ever. I know for a fact that ASUS shipped out a crappy bios chip for these mobos. We infact had a DOA bios on his mobo which we had to send back when first building the computer. We are in the process of ordering a new bios chip. If the problem gets fixed I will post again with the ordered product, the site from which it was ordered, and how to do it. I am an EE so my instructions will be precise and safe. Good luck.
