AMD's Quad Core (X4)
It's about that time again in which I am going to rebuild this computer. Just to give a little information to be aware of is that I am a gamer and I do a lot of AutoCAD/Pro Engineer work on my computer. I have been reading different reviews and such on different sites about how the X4 (9600 in particular) compares with the 6400 X2. I know the obvious difference is the X4 has 2 more cores, differences in cache and so on and so forth. To get to the point, I am trying to determine if the 9600 X4 in the long run would be better to upgrade to now, or if I should go with the likes of the 6400 X2. Also I have intentions on using GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-DS4
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128075). I have not used a Gigabyte board since the days of my Athlon XP 2600 so I am not quite sure how they are now. My past 3 or so builds, have used Abit boards as the main power plant if you will but have yet to see any new boards hit the market. My current computer is in my sig, and I will be using everything again with the obvious exception of the board, cpu and ram. One other thing, I will most likely be making the swap to Vista to give it a try. Thanks Chris |
