Question IDE to RAID?

I recently tried to install Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop currently running XP SP2. I don't want to dual boot, but erase XP and only run Ubuntu. During installation, it kept throwing me to a "BusyBox" prompt. I went into Ubuntu forums and encountered other people having the same type of problem. Most said they changed their settings from IDE to RAID and installation worked just fine. I know this is done in the BIOS, but I could not figure out how to do it.

Do I have to install a RAID driver? Am I capable of doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not too knowledgeable on this sort of thing.

Here are my computer specs.. If you need any additional information, please let me know.
