Broken record Emacines T2885
well, this is what I have, emachines T2885. Whatever mobo came with it new is whats in there. Power supply is good (tested) board lights up, buttons light up,monitor stays lit, but the CPU fan doesnt run, even after replacing, and the fan on the PSU isnt running...until I connect it to the tester...then it runs. but the board and CPU fan still doesnt.
Iam betting the MOBO is shot...it needs replaced.... My question to you guys is : What specific models of motherboards can I buy that will support the 2.8 Ghz processor with a FSB 400? I dont know if what iam saying makes sense but I need this replacement board like yesterday. Anyone want to field this one? Thanks |

Re: Broken record Emacines T2885
and welcome to the ForumA couple of things . . eMachines were hit hard by the bad capacitor problem . . look closely at the board to see if any are ruptured or leaking; For more, see this eMachines are also notorious for their poor Power supplies . . regardless of how it tested, I would not risk a new motherboard. Can you give more details on the old board . . what processor model and what kind of memory. You should be able to find a Brand and model printed somewhere on the board Edit . . I googled the model and find it uses an Intel Intel D845 processor. If you can find a board that uses that processor it should work . . but it ain't gonna be easy finding one

Re: Broken record Emacines T2885
Rich, thank-you for your response. I just dont know. Can you find out what boards will interchange with my computer? All i know is the elementary basics. Its a P4 2.8 Ghz cpu with an intel motherboard. The board lights up...no ruptured parts, the front panel lights up. none of the two fans , (CPU- PSU) run. Video card works., and the power supply tests positve. thats all I know. i just want to replace the board and want to get the right one the first time...any manufactures, and mobo models that you can find that will work with this CPU. and all i know about that is that it has a FSB 400?
Thank-you clannad |

Re: Broken record Emacines T2885
Found this INtel Board for $90
and not much else that I could find . . I'll ask for help on this one . . If I were you, I'd plan on replaceing the P/S . . whether it "tests out" or not you will be taking a chance

Re: Broken record Emacines T2885
Hi Guys,
My experience with Emachines is a simpswr states. Poor power supplies usually wipe out the MoBo and CPU. I know, I had 2 of these models and had to replace the PSU, MoBo & CPU (Under warrenty at the time) I no longer own Emachines. See this post: Emachines Help The link also gives you some alternatives, but I am unsure if all the links are still active. Hope this helps Bill
