Upgraded to Dual Core 2 No boot

hi all

I had a Intel D Core 2.8 running on an ECS P965T- and was running fine until I decided to upgrade it to a Dual Core2 3ghz

Cannot get it to boot to bios put back in the old chip boots fine updated the bios as per ECS website which says the board supports it

Put back in the new Chip and still no joy!!

The paronoid part is when I look at socket for the CPU which should have all contacts in line there seems to be a couple that are not BUT it still works fine on old chip !!!

I am starting to loose at this stage so any thoughts welcome

Re: Upgraded to Dual Core 2 No boot

It is possible that you might have a bad cpu. Try flashing the bios and see if that helps at all.

If you've got the e8400 then keep in mind that some motherboards require a bios update to support the 45nm chip.
