no that didnt work. i just relized that theres no jumper on the back. thats probably the problem. is there anyway to replace it?

Take a jumper from an old drive you're not using anymore.
Otherwise - ask in the local computer shop.

Any computer shop should have jumpers.

Don't know if that's the problem - but the drive should be jumpered if it's IDE.

okay i got a jumper. and still nothing. ive tried all of them
Im just trying to hook up a single DVD-Drive no IDE Hard drive
or anything. just the DVD. My HD is Serial ATA.

are you usiing an 80 wire ide cable on the dvd with the
blue
grey
black plugs
the blue plug into the m/b
the dvd jumpered as master on the end black plug
and you need to upgrade the power supply to this to get anywhere

Yes, i know i have to get a new PSU, im just busy with life at the moment. ill hopefully get one on saturday.

and i know i have the 80 wire IDE. and yes its all set up. jumper on master, and right plugs.

could it be a dead IDE slot?

If the IDE slot was dead you wouldn't see the drive in BIOS.

I dont see the drive in the bios, it has nothing under master, or slave.

Enter BIOS and load default settings - then the IDE channels should be enabled.

yeah i know, but does that really matter at a time like this? im just trying to repair windows. I wont go on it untill i get a new PSU but im not gonna waste money on it right now.
