Mistake problems with building my 1st pc (no power at the moment)

Ok, so i am building a pc with a Asrock K7VM3 motherboard, AMD athelon socket 462 processor. i did my build in an atx case, with many case mods, and powered it with a ATX 550w power supply. I turned it on, and it went to boot mode, but the keyboard wouldnt work, and i tried three different ps/2 keyboards, to find that it was most likely the board... so i took the cmos battery out and put it back in, as instructed... Now the machine wont power up at all..... So i bought a new motherboard, and IT wont power up either.. Did I blow the CPU? Or the power supply? What can/ should I do?????? Please help!
