upgrading proccessors
I just recieved a motherboard with an AMD Athalon and I am wanting to put the hardware from my old pentium 3 on it including my hard drive with windows xp. I do not have the internet at my house to get the code after I type in the product key, so I was wondering if it would work like PnP or if I would be able to call someone to get the code I need if I have to reformat my hard drive.

Re: upgrading proccessors
First and most important, you'll need the new MB's driver cd to load the the chipset drivers on the old HD(with old MB drivers) and also your XP install cd(in case XP needs a driver for the AMD CPU). Then without internet connection you have to call Microsoft to reactivate. I just put all my old hardware on a new AMD based MB 3-4 months ago and the process worked Ok for me. Here is activation procedure by phone from Microsoft
