EEK! CPU fan stopped increasing speed under load.

Hello again! Well I was playing battlefield 2 yesterday. As I was playing my CPU fan stopped spinning at full speed and went down to an idle speed. I have no idea how this happened. I haven't "tinkered" with anything lately. So once I noticed that it had stopped spinning fast enough I assumed that it was the dust on the fins. I took off the fan a cleaned all of the dust off and put the fan back on. The fan still does not increase speed under load. It just stays at an idle speed. So my question is... Is the fan warn out? Should I buy a new CPU heat sink and fan? Could it be my PSU?

Re: CPU fan stopped increasing speed under load.

The problem with that is speedfan or any other program like speedfan wont detect my CPU or ANY of my fans. =/ All of my connections are on correctly.

I know that they can fail. But it could also be a power supply problem.

Re: CPU fan stopped increasing speed under load.

When I go into the BIOS the temp of my CPU will go up to like 90 degrees C. I don't want to burn out my CPU to check the voltages. I know that I have seated the CPU heat sink on properly, its just that the the the fan isn't spinning fast enough. Last time i checked my voltages the 12v was a little low so I used a multimeter to measure it and it was fine.

Re: CPU fan stopped increasing speed under load.

multi meters the best option software is not that reliable
replace the fan they are cheap
redo the paste with some arctic silver
http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_s...structions.htm
if you are running it at 90c it will not last long turn it off until you have done the paste and replaced the fan
