Removing Intel heatsink
I just bought a new heatsink fan. I dont know anything about removing or installing the new one. I heard its not easy to remove intel heatsinks. I bought a push pin one so how hard can it be to install it right? Is there anything important I need to know before doing this?

Re: Removing Intel heatsink
Some are easy to take out and others are not, but unless we know exactly which type you presently have, it is difficult to say how hard or easy it is to remove. If you are talking about your present heatsink/fan being the new snap in type, then you can turn each of the four snap in connectors to unhook each side of the heatsink/fan and it will come right out without difficulty.

Re: Removing Intel heatsink
I removed it, was very easy. I cant get the Artic Freezer 7 or whatever its called attached. I keep bending the push pins. It is keeping my cpu at 34C just sitting loose with my case on its side and thats what the intel was keeping it at when it was on there tight. Might just have to take the vide card and ram out to get it in right huh?

Re: Removing Intel heatsink
Some times one has to remove items to put them in. Don't run it unless it is clamped down tightly, too much danger or harming something.

Re: Removing Intel heatsink
Are you certain that the clip is not turned to the side like when you remove them. That is so easy to do for even someone who does that work a lot (I have done a couple of those), so you need to do a double check on that. Loosen all of them and try to seat the one that you are having trouble with first, then seat the rest.
