USB on P4P800 board not working

Specs:

P4P800 SE mobo
Intel P4 3.0
ATI 9800 Pro
512 RAM
DVD ROM
256 SATA HD

I installed the Chipset drivers that came with the board, installed Win XP Pro however not of my USB ports work. This includes the four on the back and the two I tied into the motherboard from the front.

When I plug a USB device into a slot, ie, my optical mouse, I can see power to it, however nothing is working.

Checking the Device Manager I see that everything is functioning fine with no errors.

Everything is enabled in the bios settings for USB 2.0

Any idea what may be the issue?

Thanks,
TriG33k

Put the mobo cd in the CD-ROM drive, right click on the USB controller in device manager, click properties and update driver. I should search and find the drivers on the CD.

Try uninstalling them in device manager...right click, uninstall.

Then right click again and scan for new hardware, this should reinstall...

Still does not work.

I am beginning to wonder if the board is defective...its just weird how everything appears fine in device manager but nothing is happening...very frustrating to troubleshoot

Try this process provided by johnwill (another TSF user)...

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

I tried what you suggested a couple of times, but still it does not work. I'm going to turn off the power save mode on the devices as well as try turning off the onboard LAN to see if that helps. I know...its grasping at straws.
