easy question
I've been learning alot about my computer and recently opened her up and changed the power supply. I know it's an easy job for you guys but a big step for me.
The reason I did this is because i am getting ready to update my cpu with memory and a video card. My question is what is the difference between SDRAM and DDR RAM? I don't want to ask the tech guys at Best Buy because you get that "oh my God I can't believe you don't know that look" so I'm asking you guys. Thanks. |

sdram has two notches in the side that plugs in, and ddr has only a single notch in the center.
as far as the real difference, ddr is much much faster as it can read at double data rate, (DDR) and it usually is made for a faster bus speed than the old pc100 and pc133 ram.

Everything you wanted to know (well, almost) but were afraid to ask...
![]() Check out this article... http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherb...119/index.html Basic differences are DDR is faster and now the standard... SDRAM is slower and a dying breed, you definetly don't want to build a newish system w/ SDRAM... |
