dont know if im in the right forum but here goes...
some specs: motherboard: ABIT IN9 32X-MAX + 4 gb or ram Processor: INTEL Q6600 CORE2QUAD 2.4GHZ with a Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme cooler + 120mm fan Gcard: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX with a Zalman VF900-Cu LED cooler OS: Vista premium 64-bit im happily playing chaos theory and the screen suddenly goes black and it starts to beep contiuniusly... i try to start the computer but it bluescreens just after i get to desktop with the errorcode IRQI_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (driver error if google is correct), i remove uGuru thinking its the culprid (3rd party software and SP1 dont get along)... now it wont even start up, the screen blinks between grey and off and it starts beeping again if i leave it on for more then a few minutes... i suspect it might have overheated, but since i could get in after the first crash and the fact that ive played crysis on max for sevral hours that would seems abit unlikly... it might also be my Merc keyboard thats acting up, ive been using it without software since SP1 makes it crash... im clueless right now and asking for help... |

Re: Computer beeps continiusly and wont start up
i have found the source of the beep, it was on the Gcard, so i douth its the CPU...
the card dosnt seem to have any damage, its just not working, theres no signal and the POST display shows 7F error... ive had this error before, it means the Gcard isnt inserted all the way in (it had sliped out in shipping)... but it IS correctly attached, ive checked sevral times... still a mystery to me, either the Gcard is broken or the MOBO is... |

Re: Computer beeps continiusly and wont start up
i tried to use a multimeter on the spare twin connentors on the PCIe8 that is connected to the GPU it started to beep the moment i made contact...
dont know any other spot to test, tips ? anyway, ive contacted the company i got it from and i might have to ship it to them for repairs... Ps. ive realised that the guys that built the computer for me used a PCe8 connecter instead of a PCe6 connecter to power the GPU, might be have something to do with it failing.... |

Re: Computer beeps continiusly and wont start up
well it appears ive won the idiot award yet again....
ive found the problem and its beyond DUH(!).... the... screen... was... broken... yes im an idiot you may now preform the loser-sign... just a few things that have me confused... one: why did it make the GPU beep. two: why did i have to repair windows when i hooked it up to another screen... three: why did it make one of the HDs tick(!?) every four seconds ? yes i should have told you that... i have a theory, the screen failed and somehow made the GPU more powerhungry which set off some of the many failsafes in both the GPU (sentiel) and the PSU and even the MOBO might have had something to do with it... oooor the PSU sent out a jolt and it broke the screen... meh theres to many things... anyway... i was just about to ship it out, so i got really lucky... ive checkdisked it and im going to run a few defrags just to be sure... thanks for the help...
