Computer restarts even after reformat

Well i have a serious problem. My computer randomly restarts on its own. Well what really happens is the computer will restart and i will not be able to move the mouse. Than all of a sudden my monitor screen goes black and the LED light on my monitor goes from green to orange and the computer screen stays black. I just reformated and this problem still occurs. The computer performs perfectly fine. I just recently went into the BIOS settings and looked at my temperature and noticed that my computer cpu and mother board was 30 degrees Celsius 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Than i just looked at my CPU fan speed and my PowerSupply fan speed and it said that my fan speed was going 4k rpm and that my powersupply fan is going 0 ....weird hey? But its moving. Maybe its that my motherboard is not detecting my powersupply. and maybe it is time for a new powersupply. Well i will have to do with the computer restarting than. and eventually the computer will restart to much and the powersupply will burn out than it will be time for a new power supply. I will get one than. I am a computer technician and i do not even know what is causing the computer to restart. The computer restarts like randomly but usually every 6 hours or so.. One time my computer froze and the screen went back and than it turned back on and the graphics settings were messed up. The computer was extremely BRIGHT! the task bar, desktop EVERYTHING so i tryd to go into my graphics control panel but it says my graphics were reset or something like that.I took a screen shot but when i sent it to someone they didnt see it only i saw it so i was gussing it has something to do with my graphics card.. Anyways any help what so ever would be greatly appreciated..

thx

Re: Computer restarts even after reformat

Hi xXxexpertxXx, your temps are fine, but both the video card and power supply can and will cause random reboots if they are failing. Since it's easier, the first thing I would check is the video card, borrow one to swap in and test. If you get the same issue try a different PS. Earlier this week I had a video card that would work fine up until Windows started, then would either reboot the computer or go to blank screen with 8-10 scattered artifacts. I thought I was losing the HDD, but a quick video card swap stopped all the problems. Don't wait too long on getting a replacement PS, a failing power unit can take out other computer components. Re: Computer restarts even after reformat

ok, well i can try that but not at the moment as i do not have the money for a new graphics card but, if it is the power supply than maybe! in the mean time ill have to wait. and just put up with the restarts but ill try not to wait to long..I hope it is the power supply! also, it says that the power supply fan is moving at 0 rpm but for the system fan its moving at 4k rpm so why isnt it showing the powersupply as spinning but, it is..?? any ideas?

Re: Computer restarts even after reformat

The only thing that comes to mind is the fan is not turning fast enough to give a reading. You don't have a buddy who would lend you a video card? If you are going to go buy new parts, I would start with the power supply.

Re: Computer restarts even after reformat

Ya power supply is the first thing that comes to mind! I cant let this expensive computer die on me just yet..lol. I am on it right now waiting for it to restart again......

But ya supply is the first thing! i am gonna diagnose it at the shop with my boss to see what the prob is! if we can find out if it is the power supply than i will get a new supply! if it is the graphics card than OMG! i am not spending 1k for a graphics card ill go for a $200 this time.

I just gotta try to spend less time on my computer because! The more i let the computer restart the bigger the problem could get....
