Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 tempatures

Hello,

I have a new build w/ the above processor.
Using Core Temp to keep an eye on it.
The difference from low to high core is 5-8 degrees.
I assume that is not a problem.
My temps are actually very good but I'm wondering about the spread?

Hi,

I think that's normal of this processor. Under load, I notice the same thing, but on idle they are pretty much the same.

Re: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 tempatures

That is actually a low normal. Most will see at least a +10c from at-rest to under-stress computing. Therefore, you have no problem, so no problem, don't fix it. (only kidding) You are good to go.

Tumble...

What I mean is the spread is 5-8 degrees.
In the cool AM the highest idle core is 24c, load 30c
In the warm afternoon the highest idle core is 27c, load 33c

Those temps are great as is the spread. Pdxireland, those are temps to die for with most any CPU. You are lucky to have one run that cool so you must have done a few things correct when you built tihis one.

Re: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 tempatures

Hello,

I found if I set-up the Zalman to blow air up at the power supply I was lowering the temp 4-5c.
Just an FYI.....

Re: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 tempatures

As a general rule, blowing air down on the heatsink is the most efficient to keep things cool. However, each case kind is rather unique, so if what you are doing works and keeps thing very cool, then I advise you do exactly that. the object is to keep the CPU at it's coolest temperatures.

Re: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 tempatures

Thanks, 1 g0t 0wn3d, I must have been asleep because he even said Zalman in the post and I went right on as if it was a standard Heatsink and fan. Don't know what happened there.

Geesh, somehow that one blew ( ) right by me. Thanks for the wakeup call.
