Signs of broken CPU
I was wondering what the signs would be for a broken CPU, like if it was damaged from an electric shock.

Re: Signs of broken CPU
Generally when a processor has been damaged from static it will not start.
Everything else may start (drives and fans) but nothing else.

Re: Signs of broken CPU
The reason I am asking is because I thik my cpu may have been damaged when I was cleaning my case out, I removed the heatsink and to clean it. And now when I try to start my computer, I can hear the HD spinning and fans on, but I get nothing on my screen. After about 10-20 seconds my computer makes a series of beeps. Is there something else I can try before I replace the CPU? I have already tried reseting the CMOS, didnt work

Re: Signs of broken CPU
When you reinstalled the heat sink and fan did you reapply thermal paste?
