I have an eMachine T2484 with mobo VC37. I plan to upgrade its celeron CPU to make it faster. By the way I had upgraded its RAM to 1280MB. I am thinking of buying this CPU from Newegg:
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Northwood 2.8GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 478 68.4W Single-Core Processor. This CPU has a FSB of 533 but my pc original CPU (intel celeron 2.4 ghz) has a FSB of 400 only. I understand this motherboad is capable of FSB 533. Will this work with or without altering the Bios and if not any suggested CPU higher than my present one. Thank you in advance Allen |

Re: CPU Upgrade
Many Thanks for a fast reply. I am just prolonging the life of my pc for 2-3 more yrs. I will let my daughter buy this from newegg plus a video card(DIAMOND Stealth S9250PCI256SB Radeon 9250 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI or
ATI 100-436012 Radeon 9250 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI Video Card) to boost a little my system. I hope this will serve the purpose |
