intel vs amd processor
which is better? what's ur cpu?
AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor - Retail or Intel Xeon E5405 Harpertown 2.0GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 771 80W Quad-Core Processor - Retail basically both are around $235 and i want to know your opinion as it applies to mainly gaming but overall as well. this will help me decide a processor for a new gaming pc btw. i love amd but i know that intel is good as well and id like to take in the communities thoughts as back up. thanks guys |

Re: intel vs amd processor
The Phenom 9850 is designed for gaming and OCing. The E5405 is made for large-scale number crunching. Xeons have never really been known as gaming CPUs, even with the new Penryn architecture.

Re: intel vs amd processor
I would be looking for something like the E8400
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115037 altho quads sound great there are not really a lot if any games designed to use the 4 cores but most will take advantage of dual core and by the time the gaming sector does catch up it will be time for an upgrade anyway
