Choosing Motherboard Help

Hi,
i need help in building a rig to play cod4. I have a case power unit but want either a core 2 duo or quad and a 8800gt gpu but i need help with the motherboard. i want something for gaming but have no interest in Sli capability or overclocking. ive heard the ASUS p5E is ok but maybe not too good for gaming. much appreciated.

Re: Choosing Motherboard Help

What hardware do you have? This may be critical to upgrading your system.

Be aware that Du Core motherboards are not backwards compatible with legacy hardware. The Du Core motherboards I reviewed for my recent motherboard upgrade had only one IDE connection and some had NO Floppy connection.

These would not do for my PC upgrade (needed 2 IDE & Floppy min). I found an MSI motherboard that was totally compatible with my hardware, so my motherboard upgrade was to a MSI, 3GHz Intel P4 Hyper Threading & 2gb RAM, for appx $130, and I did not have to upgrade any other hardware. Very cost-effective upgrade.
