Re: Help Start up problem
seeeing as this is a new install so there should not be any data you dont want to lose ??????
looks to me like you got some Operating System file corruption I would erase/ wipe the drive with Dariks Boot n Nuke / then reinstall windows XP >>>> that will deliver a flawless clean install ![]() here is bootable program (free) for wiping the drive http://dban.sourceforge.net/ dont hesitate to ask more questions

Re: Help Start up problem
Sorry didnt make myself clear, I did Dariks Boot and Nuke, it cleared the hard disk. I switched my PC off and switched it back on, I got the same error Message on the Dos screen:

Re: Help Start up problem
First, this is NOT an OS problem. It is a BIOS Setup problem.
You can see the problem in the POST screen (which is what you are showing us). And you can see the problem the BIOS is having, you have 2 functions being assigned to the same PCI card (slot 02) which MAY be the conflict. How many PCI cards do you have installed in your system? Where are they installed (PCI slot)? Specifically, what is installed in PCI slot 2? IMPORTANT: Do you have the BIOS PNP OS Option enabled? DO NOT use this option, should be disabled. I have seen this problem in older PCs where non-PNP PCI cards have mistakenly been setup with the same resources. But this should not happen with PNP cards. Go into BIOS Setup, and check you PCI settings. Should be Automatic IF you have that option. If nothing else, first write down all BIOS setting options (just in case). Only then select to load defaults and reboot. You may have to reset some options you had previously EXCEPT the PCI settings.

I dont Know?, How can I check? If I have to open my hardware what do I look for? Where are they installed (PCI slot)? Specifically, what is installed in PCI slot 2? Got no Idea, IMPORTANT: Do you have the BIOS PNP OS Option enabled? DO NOT use this option, should be disabled. Ok How do I check this? Go into BIOS Setup, and check you PCI settings. Should be Automatic IF you have that option. If nothing else, first write down all BIOS setting options (just in case). Only then select to load defaults and reboot. How do I get into the 'BIOS Setup'? |

Re: Help Start up problem
to enter the bios
from a complete shutdown / start the computer and immediately begin tapping the "delete" key about every second until the bios screen appears if delete doesnt work / then restart and try "F1" if that doesnt do it try F2 then F12 F8 etc etc etc keep us posted
