Odd computer issues

First Things first...

Im new to the forums, thanks for having me, and second i need to explain some things

I had my main computer, the specs are as follows:

CPU- Intel Pentium D 2.2 GHZ
PSU- 500 watt (cant remember the name) but was running good
HDD- 750 Gb Barracuda and a 40Gb WD
Video Card- ATI Radeon 2400HD (crappy card DONT BUY ONE) AGP
Mobo- P4M80-M4 Intel socket 478
dvd burner- SONY DVD-R/RW
RAM- 1Gb stick gaming memory XMS series

Everything was working great. I came across a newer computer(the one in my profile) 2 days ago so i decided to build a computer for a friend using my parts stated above. Basically all i did was transfer all of the parts out of my case into their case and now im having some serious issues.

I hooked everything up as it was in my case before (including my 750GB HDD i needed to burn some pics off it before i could format it) and now when i turn the power on, the fan to the CPU, the PSU fan, the case fan, and the video card fan all spin up but it appears that im not getting any juice to either hard drive or my dvd burner and i get no video signal to my monitor even though the video card fan spins. I thought that maybe i blew the motherboard so i got an exact replacement from a friend but i get the same results. I have tried to swap the motherboard for a totally different make and model and i can get the hard drives spinning but still no signal to my monitor.....Im completely stumped.

I dont consider myself a novice when it comes to computers but i have no clue as to what it could possibly be other than possibly a bad ground from the case to the motherboard.

Any thoughts, ideas, criticisms, rants, raves, or questions appreciated and welcomed. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Re: Odd computer issues

Hello and welcome to TSF

Is your video card fully inserted into the AGP slot?

If it is, try setting the PC up out of the case on a piece of cardboard (ie. the mobo box), hooking up the bare essentials and trying to run it.
