over clocking failed! please enter setup to reconfigure your system

Hi all

this is the msg i get every time i do a cold boot on my pc.

Over clocking failed ! please enter setup to reconfigure your system.

F1 to run setup
F2 to restore defaults

as far as i know my system is not over clocked and has only just recently started to do this. my pc spec is as follows:

Asus P4P800 SE
P4 3.0 ghz 800 fsb
1 gig of kingston ddr400 ram
XFX Geforce 6800gt 256 meg AGP x8 gfx card
180 gig HDD on 2 drives
Q-Tec 500 watt PSU

Like i say this problem only happens after a cold boot, if i restart windows i have no probs and all the time the pc is working i have no problems even playing games on full gfx etc.

Please can someone help point me in the right direction as i am really stumped to what this problem may be.

Many thanks

Herb

Hi,

If it were mine, I would clear CMOS and when done set it to the default setting, save and exit.

Do you have 2 512MB dimms or 1 1GB DIMM?
Otherwise see my 'P5AD2 1GB troubles!' thread.

Could it be the PSU? I'm not sure what a Q-Tec 500 watt PSU is actually rated at. Some of the cheaper PSU have overstated power outputs- what is the Q-Tec rated at on the 3.3, 5 and 12V circuits?

When did this problem start? If you have added to the voltage load by adding devices, it may have tipped your PSU over the edge, so to speak.
