P4P800-SE restarting on cold boot
Hi all,
I built a system using a asus p4p800-se mobo, a p4 3.0 ghz 800fsb CPU, 2x 512 sticks of kingston 400ddr ram and a xfx geforce 6800gt 256 meg gfx card. My system worked fine for at least a few months until recently - now if i leave my pc off for a while when turn it back on it seems to begin to start up but then powers off after 1 or 2 seconds ..no beeps no nothing, upon restarting the machine - it boots fine but does display a msg saying that the overclocking settings didnt work - i havent overclocked anything at all i think most setting are default in the bios. I changed my psu when this first began to happen from a 350 watt to a 500 watt Q-tec (i think) but the problem still continues. Once i have got the machine to boot it works fine and doesnt fall over at all (plays high end games) but as i say once i turn it off for any length of time i get this problem. Can anyone help me or give me any kind of advise to how i may find the cause of this ? thanks a lot Herb :) |
