Two Problems; Boot up screens and reset switch.

Hey all,
Just finished my new build, and it's up and running with a few issues I'd like to sort out (why pay out for something that doesnt work properly)

First question i have is about an nvidia boot up screen I get when switching on my computer, it's a plain black screen displaying information about my video card. Only stays there for a few seconds, but is there a way to remove this? As I'd like to speed up the boot process as much as possible.

Second is that of my reset switch on the front of my case. When you push it, it resets the computer, but whilst loading up again, it doesnt detect my S-ATA hard drive, and thus asks for a bootable media. No idea why it's doing this however.

Any help for either of these issues would be much appreciated.

Information about my computer;
Antec Fusion V2 Case
Asus P5B-MX Wifi
Intel E2160 running at stock
2 Gig Corsair DDR2 5300
Sparkle Nvidia 8400GS 512mb

Re: Two Problems; Boot up screens and reset switch.

For the VGA bios, try changing the Quick Boot to enabled in your BIOS Boot menu.

For the other issue, are there any error messages that come up when you hit the rest switch? I mean in the boot process, like load CMOS defaults, or something of that nature??

Also, is it at all possible that your CMOS clear switch may be stuck on the clear position instead of the "keep settings" position?

As for error messages there are none, it goes straight from motherboard display screen to asking for a bootable media. I do remember going into the bios to have a look for the problem and the HD not being listed as being detected.

How would I check the CMOS clear switch (never encountered it before so I have no clue what I'm looking for :p)

On a side note; could it be possibly be a problem that I might not have my S-ATA HD installed correctly. I wonder this because during installation of XP I didn't install any drivers for my HD, due to my own ignorance of the fact they are(?) needed.

Thanks for your time so far, greatly appreciated.

Re: Two Problems; Boot up screens and reset switch.

Do you still have the driver install disk? Just do it, install that is. It may solve a lot of your problems. You know about changing your boot order correct? changes made in bios screen second I doubt you have a cable problem. all your answers are in bios and drivers.

Re: Two Problems; Boot up screens and reset switch.

that's the thing, I can't find drivers for my harddrive ANYWHERE.

It's a samsung spinpoint HD161HJ, and an asus p5b-mx WiFi.

Checked samsung website - nothing. Had a look through the motherboard drivers disk - nothing.

I'm thinking this is the root to a lot of problems..

Re: Two Problems; Boot up screens and reset switch.

Also most of the new hard drives dont have drivers. I know seagates don't and i suspect your samsung won"t. It's plug and play. Did you buy the wifi seperate. Wow wow just reread your thread and have a very important question DID you go into drive options when loading your operating system and format the hard drive? If not it would explain whats happening.

The wifi was onboard on the motherboard..

I didn't go into any special drive options when installing operating system, however windows did format the HD, I know that much, took forever
