Re: gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 - not stable

Hey JB,
And Welcome to the forums!!!!
There is a sticky for newbies. But I have this same board and wanted to try and help you.
Post your full system spec's, if you have a quad core welcome to the wonderful world of gigabyte! Quad's have issues with this board(link)
http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...y&STARTPAGE=96
Guys I'm posting this link to try and help JB if you no approve NP remove it. Not trying to steal loyal people or stuff.
try setting the bios to optimized defaults if you can get in there then make sure the hard drives are hooked accordingly.
Post back soon! You can e-mail me too if you need but I'll be working most of the night till 12 am my time.

PS what REV do you have? if it's rev one then check the gigabyte sight for up date................should be a sticker on the board or the box.

I believe Gigabyte stopped selling the N680SLI-DQ6 because there were too many problems with it.

Re: gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 - not stable

Correct Matt,
People with quad's couldn't over clock them .They wouldn't refund money, but Gary over @blah blah is trying to get them to offer a warranty toward a new board(790) .They are said to have stated it would work with the new CPU's. I guess this is the big grip over there.
My boards still running like a champ, though I don't have a quad and was gonna get one soon for my evga 680 LT. They want 149 bucks to step up on the 780 board, I was like no thanks.I hear Giga might skip the 780's and go right to the 790's, then offer two flavors one with DDR2 the other DDR3.
The problem JB has sounds like either not enough power or board is grounding out in the case. Though from what he says he may have gotten it used, witch could be fubar already.Course he could have a quad too, Sorry to make this so long!

Re: gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 - not stable

I have read this on several other sights and on our own forum, I'm starting to think it is no coincidence.

Gigabyte starts and stops

I think all signs point to an internal short in the motherboard. Mike
