Re: download Bios Update

Your BIOS update should be available at the manufacturers wesite for free. If it's a self built system then checkout www.kobian.com (The site won't open for me right now) If it's a retail PC (Gateway, HP, etc) then go to that website and enter the PC model in the support section, and look for downloads, or post the computer make and model number here and we can help you find the BIOS download.

May I ask the reason you want to update the BIOS. It's usually only needed if you are adding hardware that is not recognized by your current BIOS, such as a new CPU.

Re: download Bios Update

THe new site for your board is www.Mecury-PC.com. They have motherboard drivers but no BIOS update. I'm looking for the manual right now.

Your board might be able to see more than 512mb of RAM per DIMM slot. That would be a limitation of the motherboard and a BIOS update would not fix that.

On adding a second IDE device, make sure the jumpers on the back of the drives are set properly.
Hard Drives should be on the Primary IDE channel.
CD/DVD drives should be on the Secondary IDE channel.
The jumpers should be set to Master (MA) and Slave (SL). The Master should be connected to the end of the ribbon cable and the Slave to the middle connector.

Another options is Cable Select (CS). To use CS you must have 80 conductor ribbon cables and you put the drive you want to be the Master on the end of the ribbon cable and the Slave in the middle.

Tell me more about your hard drive.
How did you format it, FAT16,FAT32, NTFS?
What Operating system are you running?
Are you adding it as a storage drive or your boot drive?

Re: download Bios Update

OK so I found the download page for your board, but the BIOS they have there is actually 2 yrs older than the one you have now.
http://www.mercury-pc.com/product-dr...p?productid=62

Also the board is limited to 1gb of RAM, with each DIMM slot accepting up to a 512mb RAM module. (2x512mb)

Re: download Bios Update

Hello mattlock,
thanks for your help.
I have attached driver agent report.
I think with Driver agent there are new updates, but the problem is that updates are not free.
In kobian and Mercury site there are no new update.
I have only one Hard Disk of 40 GB installed and partitionned in to 20GB
and formated in NTFS.
I shall try the memory 1Gb.
The problem with the IDE still same; configuration of cable and jumper are installed as you said.
Have a look to Driver agent report; I think you can have an idea how to get new update.
regards.

Re: download Bios Update

The IDE1 only the Hard Disk
The IDE2 with only one Driver (DVDWr or CDWr) it works perfectly.
when I add a second driver in The IDE2 (install and connect as you told me), the PC does not start, or it works for some minutes and it freezes.
