OS: Dual Boot xp/ubuntu

no sata recognition
I recetnly bought a new asus p5k motherboard and took my old componets out of my sony and put them in the new case with this computer. There is no ide conector for the dvd drive so i switched it to sata but the motherboard isn't recognizing it. Please help
