"Reboot and select proper device build" ERROR
hi,
I have recently finished assembling my computer and I was ready to install windows vista but as I went into the BIOS setup I noticed that my DVD drive was not recognised. I made sure the the IDE cable was connected and that the jumper was set to master. The DVD drive is my only IDE device connected to my motherboard and my hard drive is connected via SATA. I could open the tray of the drive by the push of a button and I put the windows vista disc in but it came up with this message " Reboot and select proper devise or insert boot media in selected boot devise and press a key to continue" Here are my specs: -Asus Maximus formula SE X38 DDR2 (Motherboard) - Sony DRU840A INT 20X DVD +/- DVDRW D Layer (DVD Drive) -Thermaltake Bigwater 735 - Thermaltake Tough power 850W with PFC cable Management PSU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 - Ati Radeon HD3870 512mb -Samsung 500G 7200RPM SATAII 16M - Samsung 206BW 20inch 2ms WIDE LCD Gloss BLK Dual input D-Sub DVI - DDR2 Twin2X 4096 6400C5 4Gb Corsair Plz Help..... |

Re: "Reboot and select proper device build" ERROR
Start with the DVD drive. How is it hooked up? Is it on the primary or secondary connector? How are the jumpers set? Where do you have it on the ribbon cable? We can go from there if we have that info.
