Need a cooler for my motherboard & CPU

I am not sure that this is the correct room to post this question in, sorry if it is not.

I have a GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS4 Rev. 2.0 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX motherboard and need a cooler for the cpu.

I was wondering if ether of these 2 Zalman coolers would fit my motherboard?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=zalman%2bnt

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...MAN%2bCNPS9700

I am not too concerned about the case being large enough because I will buy new case.

Also, the silver cooler is a 4 pin and the copper is a 3 pin. What is the advantage of the 4th pin on the silver cooler?

Re: Need a cooler for my motherboard & CPU

yes both of those coolers will work with your board

the four pin is the configuration found on newer motherboard the extra wire is for fan speed monitoring and controlling

you can use a three wire on a motherboard that has a four pin cpu fan header

and you can also use the four pin on a motherboard that only has a three pin cpu fan header

I need a little clarification please. My MOBO has (2) 3 pin SYSTEM FAN connectors, a 3 pin North Bridge connector, a 3 pin power fan connector, and a 4 pin CPU fan connector. What is the difference between these connectors. I prefer to buy the all copper zalman cooler 3 pin because I hear all copper is better to disapate heat where as the aluminum zalman cooler has 4 pins. Will there be a problem using the 3 pin connector instead of the 4 pin cpu fan connector? Would I be sacrificing auto speed control or anything else? Do I use the system fan or power fan or must I buy and use the 4 pin cpu fan? What do I hook on to the NB connector....got a link?

Re: Need a cooler for my motherboard & CPU

cpu coolers always get connected to cpu fan header

yes you can get a four pin cooler and connect it to a three pin motherboard they are universal

some fans use two wires for temp and speed control others use one

makes no diff

if you go to the zalman website you will see an installation movie with each cpu fan
