Some basic Mobo+Case setup issues I'm having

(1) My motherboard has plugs for 2 chassi fans but I only have 1. Does this pose an overheating risk? Do I find stoppers for the unused Chassi fan plugs? Do I need a new case?

(2) I have a IDE hd but I lack the physical space for an adapter between the case and my harddrive. Can I use the 40 pin floppy IDE slot to connect my Harddrive instead? Or do I need to dish out another 50 bucks for a new case?

(3) Why the hell do all the IDE cables have plugs on each end, instead of plugs on one end and pins on the other?

Hmm, then the question is: I need some way to connect my 44-pin harddrive to my SATA pin mobo.

And you're right, I did mean IDE/PATA... I'm exhausted today :(

No, I found one actually. Such things do exist.

The problem is, none of them have the right male/female plug configuration for me. My idea right now is to put it in a hard drive case, but I can't find a cheap one that works with both PATA and SATA. I have a new 320 gig hard drive for my computer, but obviously my old one (the one with the PATA) has a lot of valuable memory on it.
