[SOLVED] Proper Cpu Clock Settings Asus
I Have A Asus A7V333 Mother Board / I Am Updating To A Athlon Xp 2800+4 Barton Core Cpu. Frequency 2133mz / Multiplier 16x
My Question Is What Setting Should I Use On The Cpu External Frequency Selection Switches (external Frequency Selection) In The Advanced Bios Setup Should I Chose The Frequency Multiple Of 16x / And What Should I Chose In The Cpu/pci Frequency (mhz) Line. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated. Thanks Ron Last edited by RPDABA; 12-21-2007 at 07:26 PM. |

Re: Proper Cpu Clock Settings Asus
First question,,,,,, are you sure this is a 2800+ and not a 2600+ because the 2133mz / Multiplier 16x you listed is for a 2600+ Thoroughbred.
The 2800 runs at 2083 mhz with a multiplyer of 12.5 This is very important to set the cpu up. If you are not sure can you post the numbers and letters printed on top the cpu? |

Re: Proper Cpu Clock Settings Asus
YOU ARE CORRECT I WAS READING THE WRONG LINE ON THE ATHLON XP PROCESSOR LIST. IT IS A ATHLON XP 2800+ FREQUENCY 2083MHZ / FSB
333 MT/s MULTIPLIER 12.5X SO SHOULD I LEAVE THE SYSCLK IN THE JUMPER FREE MODE AND THEN HOW SHOULD I SET THE BIOS IN THE ADVANCED MENU ? THE FREQUENCY MULTIPLE AT 12.5 ? THE CPU/PCI FREQUNCY AT ?? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICATED THANKS RON

Re: Proper Cpu Clock Settings Asus
Try the jumper free mode first, then enter bios and go to the advanced tab and press F5, this will load the defaults. Then press F10 and reboot, enter bios again and see if the processor is recognized correctly on the advanced tab.
That should work, if not we'll have to manually set the processor up |

Re: Proper Cpu Clock Settings Asus
Thanks for the info/ followed your instructions / installed cpu / no problem with the operating system or boot up / however it still shows up as an athlon 2000 xp at 1.44ghz in the windows sytem info. What do you suggest I try next.
Thanks Ron |

Re: Proper Cpu Clock Settings Asus
Check and make sure all the dip switches labled "SYSCLK" are set to off and the jumper for jumper free mode is place to cover pins 2&3. Then load the defaults again.
If it still is not recognized right enter bios and manual set the "cpu frequency multiplier" to 12.5 and the "cpu/pci frequency" to 166. Don't forget to save when you exit. If it still don't work tell me what the multipler and frequency is currenty set at |
