Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

Hi all

Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm how impressive my o/c may be
I have a e6400 running a basic t/t water cooling system and currently (as i write this) i have the cpu core/s runnning at 3.47ghz
Now thats approx 63% increase on stock.
Even under full load (both cores) it WILL NOT exceed 60c
Idle starts up at around 48-50c but what can one expect running a clock of this magnitude

Keen to hear other's results from the same (or at least core 2) chip.

Ian

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

I think Emo's right about the 5Ghz OC. The rig was frosted over 'cause it was being cooled so much. I've also seen immersed systems that were able to get a 200% OC.

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

thats a decent clock

just remember; there is a WORLD of diff between proving a stable overclock for two hours and running that overclock setting from this day forth

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

Ok ok ... when i said "is this a record" i really didnt mean in relation to liquid nitrogen bench testing and even lab-based immersion testing. I was just keen to know if anyone here HAS A WORKING overclocked system (as in using standard retail cooling devices) in excess of mine. Oh and now i have it comfortably running 3521mhz which is just over a 65% increase on stock. CPUZ screen attached.

Ian

you got me all wrong dude

I applaud the results you have obtained

I am only trying to imply; dont fry something !

I know for a FACT several of those fellas striving for records have "toasted" alot of $$$$ getting that stable 2 hour overclock !

you have done very well

I hope you dont leave your rig clocked like that on a steady basis

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

Yeh ok ... i read yer
Now I dod some more playin about and it seem as soon as i crack the 3.6g mark windows refuses to boot. It will POST ok, but windows crashes upon startup (that may also be due to me having my x1950 c/f overclocked as well (currently at 682mhz up from stock 650)
So right at this moment i am running (stable) 3600mhz (cpuz screen attached) and this gives me fsb of 1800mhz

At idle (now for instance) my CPU temp still sits at a pretty 42-44c

To be honest i am in the market for a new chip (maybe a Q6600 or perhaps Q6700) so if this chip cooks i guess that will justify having to go shop for a new one. : ) (at least thats what i will tell the wife)

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

yep, i do accept this but with the bunch of extra L2 cache and 4 x cores surely a similar overclock will yield quantum leaps in user performance (such as gaming or multitasking) right?

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

I dont believe the quads overclock nearly as well as the dual cores ??

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

I have seen quite a few mentions of stable 3.6g+ clocks on air cooling (although many of these were using the new P35 chipset)
If I were aiming at a 3.4-3.6g clock running my existing liquid cooling (with perhaps an upgrade penciled in soon) surely i would not be bracing for disappointment?

anyone?

Ian

Re: Overclocked (using H2O) Is this a record?

3.4 & 3.6 are the upper expectancies for the Q6600 I would be "preapred" to top out at 3.2 / 3.4 which is still very respectable

are you talking about achieving an overclock you will use day in and day out ???? or are you looking for a high overclock that has to only be d0-able for the two hour stress test achievement ?

most all of the fellas posting these high clocks are not runnign them day in and day out ?

and YES I would look to a P35 motherboard to get the best clocks from the quad.
