!! P4C800-Deluxe is freezing while accessing CD's !!

Hi there,
since i have build my machine in ferbruary this year, i suffer from a random freezing issue just after the CD's will be scanned
either in drive E: (DVD-R) or F: (DVD-RW) --> specs see below.
I have to push the reset button to restart the machine.

The pc does not freezzing all the time just now and then. It is also not reduced to just audio CD's it happens also
on data,-game and RW CD's same often on both drives!

There are always the same tasks running in the background and i have the IMAPI task (Windows XP internal CD burning programm) disabled.
I also configured Auto-Play for:
1. Audio CD's to Windows Mediaplayer 9
2. DVD's to PowerDVD XP 4.0
everyting else is set to "NO ACTION"

The only thing i can think of is a RAM issue. I run my RAM sticks with the default settings. Is there someting i could try on the RAM settings?

Any help or suggestion are highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Christian

You might try only connecting one drive and watch how things go for a few days to see if symptons point you in one directionor another. Also, you might try disabling auto play entirely and monitor. When in question, simplify the configuration and monitor/test.

I had a similar problem, and found that in the end, re-installing XP fixed it. Not much help I spose, but if you had a spare partition to install another OS, it might help rule out your existing OS.

The only other thing that I could suggest would be to look at your antivirus settings.'

regards

Andrew

Ok guys,
will report in, that after i have re-configured the CD drives concerning the autostart functions for drive one to just:

Music CD's --> Windows Media Player
DVD's --> Power DVD XP

AND
drive two everything set to no action

the machine runs without lock-up's since 3 weeks.

OK guys!
Just reporting in that NERO 6 InCD was the culprit. I dont run the last version
but i am pretty shure it is the same with the last update.
I disabled InCD from Autostart, and had no freezing issues anymore.
I currently have a open case running at the Nero support which adresses this problem.
I hope to get a answer soon!
