No boot up screen though OS loads, strange freezing

I will start with all the details:

Occasionally my monitor would lose its signal while booting into windows/linux and would require a full reboot to get it to receive a signal again.

I figured it was something to do with the psu (antec 350W) so I got a Corsair VX550 with much better amperage ratings for all the rails. Upon installing this new psu, my bios and boot screens do not show up but my OS still loads. That is, my default OS loads (OpenSUSE), but I cannot boot into windows from my boot loader since the monitor does not receive any signals during this time period.

If I take out the Corsair and put the Antec back in I can see my bios and boot loader screens again. Also, I have experienced the same monitor freezing with the Corsair CPU, and once was even during normal web browsing, not just during the boot-up process of the OS.

I have combed the Internet for similar problems but I have turned up nothing. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?

Specs:
monitor: dell 2407fpw lcd
cpu: athlon 64 3000+
motherboard: asus a8n-e
video: ati x700 pro
ram: 2 GB kingston hyperX pc3200
psu: corsair vx550 / antec smartpower 350W
nec dvd+rw
1 sata, 2 ata drives

Re: No boot up screen though OS loads, strange freezing

Update:

I swapped out several components with a friend to see if I could get my BIOS to show up during boot. Here are the configurations which work:

Works - my old psu, my video card, my motherboard
Works - my new psu, his video card, my motherboard
Works - my psu, his video card, his motherboard
Works - my psu, my video card, his motherboard

There is only one configuration which doesn't work:

Doesn't work - my new psu, my video card, my motherboard

It seems like it HAS to be ALL three together which make the BIOS not show up during boot time.

Does anyone have any idea how this could happen??
