Motherboard Suggestions - SATA Raid?
I'm planning a spot of upgrading to my machine - namely a shiny new core 2 processer which will also mean a new motherboard as my current one is a socket 468.
As SATA HD's are now pretty cheap I'm thinking that a couple of Seagate 500GB disks would go quite nicely together as a Raid 1 (mirrored). This brought me to looking for an ATX motherboard which has onboard Raid for its Sata. Does such a thing exist without paying a serious premium? I'm not looking for an absolute top notch board, but full size ATX with 3 pci slots and still with an IDE connector to save me needing a new DVDR/W drive... Thanks in advance. |

What is your budget? I would take a look at something like this:

Re: Motherboard Suggestions - SATA Raid?
Thanks for the suggestions - the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R looks like it fits the bill quite nicely and won't break the bank.
I'd already been looking at the Core 2 Due E6750 but it was nice to get a recommendation! Only thing that leaves me now needing as a pci-e graphics card. A bit cheeky I know but could you also recommend a couple of cheap ones? (looking at under £50 to bring the total cost to about £250 inc. the processer and mobo). I'm not a gamer and so don't need a super-duper card but do still need the good old vga port... (or at least a DVI with an adaper.) Thanks for the motherboard suggestions - really appreciate the help you guy's continually give. |

Re: Motherboard Suggestions - SATA Raid?
The first card is a good one. I would go with that.
