Copper Shim

Hi. What is the purpose of a copper shim? I have one on my CPU right now, but arctic cilver told me that they have been known to cause heat problems and are not very advantageous to the CPU. The heat problem is supposedly caused by not allowing the heatsink proper connection with the die. My CPU runs at 65 degrees C now... hmmm... well, tell me what you guys think and give me some advice. Should I take it off???

The purpose of the shim is to protect the cpu core, they serve no purpose for heat reduction. Some people say that shims increase the cpu temp. 65 degrees is a little high, but still within AMD's specs (depending on cpu and speed). If the shim is installed, you may want to remove it and see if your temps drop.

Just be real careful putting the heatsink back as not to tip it, REAL CAREFUL...................:D
