Re: Looking for info on motherboards ?

MSI makes a good board called the P6N Diamond which is a good board, that would be my pick for the 680i boards.

Gigabye also makes good motherboards. Asus used to be the king, but they have somewhat declined with the the most recent AM2 and LGA775 boards.

As for Intel, I have had a very poor experience with their boards. I see lot of dead Intel motherboards that were still new. I would not recommend them. Intel has good chipsets, though.

Re: Looking for info on motherboards ?

I have to agree with Mr. Modica. Gigabyte & Msi are at the top of my list then ASUS. If you are interested in overclocking avoid the Intel boards as most are not know to OC well.

Re: Looking for info on motherboards ?

As a system builder, I use MSI boards 95% of the time. Most of my clients are gamers and businesses. MSI makes great motherboards with a wide array of options for different users. Their customer service on the other hand is in dire need of a tune up - even if you are a reseller.

I have not used Gigabyte but I have read many good reviews on their boards.

Re: Looking for info on motherboards ?

ASUS has done me wrong a few times this year so I can't vote for them. I've used MSI for ages now and love their quality. GigaByte is also a brand I have no issues with.

I haven't really worked with an Intel board since the old 80386 days so I don't know where they stand now.

Dell uses Intel desktop motherboards in all their Intel systems, and Gateway does in their Intel systems as well.
