Temperature Monitoring

I've got a problem where whenever I open a temp monitoring program, all the fans in my computer go full speed and my screen goes blank and turns off. I've left it for a couple of minutes, but it doesn't seem like there's any way of getting back, so I have to restart. Any ideas why this would happen?

Because the inside is clogged with dust a good one is speedfan.

the inside is not clogged with dust at all, speedfan and sensor view are the ones im trying to use..

what are the readings like in the bios when starting and in this when you have been running for awhile

Just installed it and tried to run it, it got to the end of the loading bar and my pc restarted. As for the voltages, i looked in the bios and they all look fine, they kept changing slightly though.

post your system specs including the psu details and the temp and voltages you are seeing

chipset temp - 35c

it's a fresh install of xp from 2 days ago, will run it anyway though

oh and i had this same problem before i formatted, and this was on a different hard drive..

i have never used it so i have no idea see if there is a readme with the d/load
if there is a problem i don't think it will take to long to find it

been running for 15 minutes now, i dont think its going to find a problem, im always able to run benchmarks and play games for hours without any issues.

i have no idea why a temp monitor would cause the fans to increase in speed,it is not unusual for them to be incompatible with the sensors,but then they just don't work
if the stress test caused no shut down or reboots i would think you don't have anything to worry about if anything was going to cause the fans to speed up the test would have
your system appears to be running and copeing fine
