PC won't turn on

Hello,

My pc will no longer turn on. Here's some history.

Doing this and that until I got a blue screen with some error message. I didn't get a chance to read much of the message. After 10 seconds it rebooted but when it powered back up it made a "zzzzZZZ MMPH" type sound. Then just hung with out the moniter doing anything. Unplugged it and plugged it back in then tried to boot it up again. This time I got that same sound along with an annoying beep. The beep rings on and off every few seconds until I hold the power button down to turn it off.

Also as far as I can tell the fans aren't running.

I opened it up, dusted it off and crossed my fingers but that didn't work. So much for karma.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for your time.

Re: PC won't turn on

Hi Tjflagg,
When the computer beeps it is telling you something is wrong (a code). Can you please discribe the beeping noise a little better (2 short beeps than a pause, or 3 long beeps etc. etc.)

Thank,
Bill

Re: PC won't turn on

Thanks for the quick reply Bill. It's a slow beep. With a pause in between each one that's about the same length as the beep its self.

Re: PC won't turn on

So it sounds like a single beep repeating itself? Can you tell me what the computer specs are (make, model, operating system)? What were you doing prior to the problem, when the computer rebooted?
Thanks,
Bill
