Re: upgrading mobo in a emachines t3882
Check that the power conections from the psu to the motherboard are tight.
Make sure the aux 4 pin connector from the psu is pluged into the motherboard. Make sure the clear cmos jumper is in the normal position and not in the clear position. |

Re: upgrading mobo in a emachines t3882
Try the bench test, lay the board only on a piece of cardboard and connect only
psu cpu with fan&heatsink video card 1 stick ram mouse, keyboard, monitor Case speaker Clear the cmos, make sure the computer is unplugged from the wall outlet when you do, read your manual on how to do this. Check all jumpers are set correctly, again the manual will explain these. Make sure the aux 12V from the psu to the motherboard is connected. To start touch the 2 pins that the case switch is connected to with a screwdriver. This will eliminate the possibilty of a case short and also only uses the necassary components to let the computer pass post. Try it and let us know if the computer will then post |

Re: upgrading mobo in a emachines t3882
well i was not sure about trying benchtest without messing anything up, so i out old mobo back . i ahd misplaced some jumpers on the front panel header and was getting same response on old mobo as new one, once i realized this i changed jupers to corrects sptos, then it started it up no problem.
now after i ahd installed new mobo i tried diffrent settings for front panel header as i have 4 slots for. Hdd led, Pwr led, Pwr on, and Reset. But i only have 3 jumpers on my tower which are Hdd led, Pwr led, and Pwr s/w. i tried pwr s/w on reset and pwr on slots but neither worked. wondering maybe i need a new tower? with all 4 jumpers, or is there an issue where emachine towers only work with there designated boards? |

Re: upgrading mobo in a emachines t3882
All you really need is the pwr s/w to make the computer turn on, the rest are just the lights on the tower and the reset switch, none of these are needed to make the computer pass the post test.
Try this,,,,,,, look in your manual and find the PWR on and touch these two pins with a small screw driver briefly. This should turn the computer on, it does the same as the power switch. When you do this leave all other connections on the front panel header disconnected. I tried to get your manual but biostars site is under construction and I was unable to do so. I strongly recommend the bench test with minimal components because this could be a motherboard, case short, or psu problem and this will help to narrow it down |
