Computer switching off
Ok guys my pc has been acting a little bit strange lately, it randomly switches itself off without any prompts on screen BUT the power light on the case stays on and so does the LAN light at the back of the mobo. I can't remember the model of the mobo but its definetly an asus. I have an amd 3000+ 400mhz fsb, 1gb ram and 2x SATA hdds.
When this happens I have to switch the power off and on at the mains because simply pressing the power button on the front of the pc does nothing. A friend did suggest that maybe the ram is faulty but i tested both and still the same thing happens. Oh and one other thing, it always seems to happen when adobe products are running such as photoshop/dreamweaver. Before when I had vista on the same pc simply opening the above programs would switch my pc off. Anyone can help I would be very thankful. |

Re: Computer switching off
suspect heat or psu
check your volts and temps post your system specs including the details from the label on the side of the power supply from your discription i would suspect your power supply is failing http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-29890.html

Re: Computer switching off
you need to get hold of a 500-550w quality brand to try in it
you can run with that monitor up on screen, watch it and see if the cpu temp rises significantly just before it goes off you may need to redo the paste on the cpu and get a can of air and blow the dust from the computer,if it does
