Re: Hello Friendly People

hey thanks i see
now i just spent 100 dollars on a pSu
and now it says there is power adapeters for psu

is there one for a molex to EPS12V
because i got one 4 pin +12 volt power cable
and the motherboard gots room for a 8 pin EPS +12 volt cable, is there something to add an extra 4 to the 4pin 12 volt and make it a EPS?
or do i gotta send this psu back and get the other one i just found?\

Is there a site like that for overclockin?
thanks

Re: Hello Friendly People

first off, tell us what power supply you bought / name & model

I would suggest getting a PSU that has the eight pin EPS connector, seeing as how this is a new build and new PSU, I would return the PSU for a correct version needed, its wayyyyyyyyyy to early in the life of your new rig to be playing with adapters!

if you list your whole system we can give you suggestions for high quality units that meet your rig's needs.

thats my two cents

if you google search, there are hordes of dedicated overclocking sites; you should learn the basics first though or they will not have much patience for you, there is plenty you must understand first

google for "overclocking guides" then read several of them

Re: Hello Friendly People

I am happy to see you are not expecting to pay $60.00 for a PSU that will run your system WELL

look for the Antec Trio Rail SP-3 650 watt PSU they are selling for around $110.00 mark

the Antec trio is FAR better than that Coolmax and a few bucks cheaper

the antec is rated to run at 50C operating environment and is 85% efficient

the coolmax doesnt state its temp rating and no efficiency rating these are signs of poor build

then compare the customer reviews between the two units, wont take you much looking to get you into a better unit!

enjoy, that antec is awesome quiet too and I know it has your needed 8pin eps connector!

Re: Hello Friendly People

thanks for the input, iam sure it aint cheaper, but ill still invest in it,

I already cut the serial number off the box for the XION PSU, so the warranty is void , you think that PSU (XION 600w) would run my system for a week or two till i get cash flow for the new PSU??

Re: Hello Friendly People

usually there is a whole section in the back of the m/b manual giving explicit instructions on how to set up the different varieties of raid

Re: Hello Friendly People

As a brand, I believe CoolMAX to be a good one for power supplies. I use one, and have no problems. Most of their units have active PFC and overvoltage protection, such as the one mentioned here.
