Post Help Needed for Desktop

I am searching on the net for Dell Dimension and I get this deal in $479.00. My budget is $500. I require computer for general usage only.

configuration:
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Basic
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs
160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
48X CD-RW/ DVD Combo Drive
19 inch E197FP Analog Flat Panel
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Integrated Graphics GPU
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

Is it good configuration? Any upgrades needed for better performance?

Re: Help Needed for Desktop

If you're just going to be using that for general usage (i.e., internet, Microsoft Office, etc.) and you can get it for that price, I'd say go for it. That's a good deal. If you're going to be playing any games, though, I don't know. I don't know how well the integrated graphics chip will run, but I'm guessing it won't be very good at all. You may be able to add a new video card sometime down the road if you want, but I'm not sure.

Re: Help Needed for Desktop

Hi,

I would take a look at this computer:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883107289
It will be excellent for general usage. Dells aren't the highest quality, and Compaq has been pretty good since HP bought them.

Re: Help Needed for Desktop

Both computers are good for general use. I would, however, think about buying some more RAM to help it run smoother and faster.
