Smile EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

EPox boasts about there Debugging Utility. That if you have a problem you know where to go. As in making reference to the 2 digit LED located on the board. That will display a Post Code to show you why your system fails to boot. Well I'm having a problem and the LED dose show a code "rr". However I'm unable to find any reference to the Code Translation, nothing in any of the Manuals provided nor at there web site. Dose anyone know EPox POST PORT CODES specifically for AF590 SLI

Re: EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

You know I haven't head Epox mentioned in a while. I actually ran their board for a while and had the same 2 Digit LED on the board that you spoke of. I remember it changed as I booted. Anyhow, since I am familiar with the company and support, I will see if I can dig a little deeper for you. I am the first person to post a reply so I will add this to my list of things to look for and post any findings I come across later. I've been known to find things that seem to be impossible to get your hands on, so we will see how this mission goes.

Re: EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

So far this is the best I have come up with for you.

Had to goto the Taiwan site for this

Your code is NOT listed but scroll to the bottom of the pdf for a huge list.

The latest bios is here

Release Christmas 2006 support 65nm AM2 chips.

Other than that, I am empty handed. I've looked through the USA and Taiwan site. I don't remember have support issues in the past but this is certainly an issue. I mean any hit on search for RR brings me road runner... Clearly no instances of RR have been posted. Argh

Re: EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

Personally I think that really sucks but if you don't wanna rebuild a whole new system because of this, you maybe able to get a similar spec board without having to buy the latest and greatest. These guys have alot of discontinued boards.

Did your board just stop POSTing all of a sudden? Or is this a new configuration that hasn't worked at all since you put it together?

Re: EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

Yes, not a lot of information about the history of what led up to this was posted. Though a simple question was asked and I researched it and answered it. Funny how a company like Epox likes to separate themselves from the other guys with this cool 2 digit bright LED but when it comes time to translate the error code into the English language, it looks like it fails miserably.

Re: EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

Its a new system all new-Athlon 5200 64x2 Dual Core 2.6MHz,2G DDR2 800,SATA 300G, Dual GForce 7900GS and of course EPoX AF590 SLI2. It turns out thats Its now reading FFh which I was able to desifer from your research Thank You Again. It means ether a Bad Board, Dram or Processor. Final verdict was when switching my 5200 with my 3800 every thing work fine. Which would mean that the 5200CPU is bad right? Wrong.. when thinking just for the hell of it Ill try the 5200 on the other board where the 3800 was. I found out it worked perfectly, which means that my EPox Board is bad right?Even though it works fine with the 3800? There the same format and should work with all of the Athlon 64x2 Dual Core AM2 socket processors. Im stumped any ideas SMG

Re: EPoX boast about Post Port LED but.....

I don't think we discussed the bios upgrade possibility did we? I will put this on my to do list for when I wake up later because if the hardware itself is capable of supporting the frequencies and wattage/voltage required by the higher end AMD, then a bios upgrade could actually get that epox board to post with the faster CPU. but if they are like matsonic and have very lousy bios revision notes it will be hard to tell. lets hope they have an up to date CPU support list. I will look into it and post my findings well before the end of the weekend. DO NOT GIVE UP on this. That epox still has the possibility of working in that configuration. It may simply have no idea how to identify that CPU because it's bios doesn't include it in the database, so it doesn't know what to do with it...
