Confused k8nf6g-vsta mainboard

I bought one of these boards recently with a sempron 2800+ cpu. Although the board is fine, I didn't realise at the time that the cpu was only a 1.6 mhz.

Fine for most other things, but nothing to write home about when it comes to online games! I need a better processor than this 1.6 and have just had a look around the web, but to be honest, I don't really know what I'm looking for or what better processor would be ok with the board.

I would appreciate any help that could be given on this as online game playing is something I enjoy but the cpu does tend to load images slower than i would like and does a little lag at times.

Thank you in advance for any help or just for reading my waffle!

Looks like the highest you'll get would be an Athlon 64 3200+ Venice core, it runs at 2.2ghz. Old technology, so on the plus side you can find one for cheap, on the minus you might be hard pressed to find them in numbers. Newegg has a few left.
