The core-2's are very overclock friendly as such I would not pass up that option easily if there is a possibility for your overclocking get DDR2-800mhz ram

as for the SLI feature,
Right now the overclocking idea is a bit over my head , and using the analogy of "trading in a burro for a racehorse" which is what I am doing with this build , overclocking would be down right greedy on my part ... I am more into substance than flash , if that makes any sense ... And I am running 667 ddr2 , and that stuff is too expensive to switch around on a whim ...

Just want a board that will be relevant for a few years hopefully , and have a solid shot at cpu upgrade in time , if I should choose .

I'd rather have a board with options I wont use now , but might in the future , than have a board without features I may come to desire in time .

Well crap'ola ! seems there is always something else to fit into the equation ... Had a swing through the gigabyte site to check the specifications for the ds3p and it seems my ram isn't under the supported list ,

CM2x512-5400C4
XMS2-5400

Guess I should be happy I checked prior to another setback .

Thanks a million !!! that makes me happy ... Think I'll see what I can come up with at local shop in the morning . Went to the corsair webpage , and my ram was listed as compatable with the ds3 . I do appreciate all your feedback and advice . I ll post back and let ya know how the final choice played out . Prolly going to pony up the extra $50 above the p5b cost for a better board (still neck 'n neck between the gigabyte & asus boards ... but do have a prefrence )

Thanks again

linderman...well , after much thought , chose the p5b-delux . Really liked the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DQ6 LGA 775 , but just couldn't justify the additional expense , even though all that heat pipe looked neet . I'll re-invest the difference in cost into a better video card .

hey guys ... got all parts shipped in and installed , and afraid I am going to have to start semi-new thread ...

New video card was final piece . First stab at start up got no post / video , re-installed old pci card , got video , installed operating system , virus protection , isp software , yahoo messenger , and skype .

Then shut it down and installed new video card , it was playing fine ...

were a few hiccups on restarts (would get blue screen with some hardware error msg "I was unable to read , too fast" and would also get the "start in safe mode" option .

Now this morning , I am back to square one unfortunatly . When I tried to crank it up , got no post , no "beep" and sadly , no video to a known working moniter .

Once I get some ideas together , I'll start a new thread , and begin the process of figuring this bugger out . But without video , or at the minium a beep error code , this is going to be a bear .

BTW , temps and voltages were smooth and steady with new power supply . Also Linderman > new motherboard was topps ! very nice
